ONE JACKET: 3 WAYS

Are you into the embroidery trend like I am right now?  I am loving it, especially when you stick it on an olive jacket! This is one of my favorite go to items right now that is reasonably priced and versatile. Being a “blogger”, especially one who is sometimes a fashion blogger, there is all the pressure in the world to have different outfit on the daily. However, for most budgets that just isn’t feasible or practical. So while I’ve done many posts on buy this, not that I’ve not done many on how to wear the same items multiple ways.

With my styling clients it’s always about quality not quantity. And quantity doesn’t always equal buku bucks! Quality to me can be a great pair of jeans-which you should defintely own-or a staple piece from somewhere like Target or H&M that you can wear again and again. This jacket to me is one of those staple pieces that is reasonably priced and SO on trend.

Immediately when I saw this jacket I knew it was so me and would be something I would wear again and again. Plus, it’s olive ya’ll. Such a great color on so many people and what I consider a neutral. It’s a funny coincidence I noticed while curating this post that I wore the same earrings every time I wore this jacket. I did not plan that guys, that is way too much effort! But I do love these mint leather earrings from Nickel & Suede

Let’s get down to the nitty gritty. I show it here styled 3 different ways, apparently every time with the same earrings, but besides that everything is different. The first is in Target I just pulled it on over top of a striped black and white top with my favorite ripped jeans and fave new slides from ASOS. Next I wore it on a cold, rainy day in Omaha with a comfy Wildfox long baggy beach jumper, tights and Hunters. And lastly just this week with my striped “good vibes” shirt from Target (go get it, you won’t regret it so comfy and cute!)

So why should you care about my grainy iphone outfit pics? You shouldn’t! However, what I love to share if trendy, new, fun fashion is totally attainable for everyone. As well as doesn’t have to be super though out, contain new items everyday, and pieces you never wear again. While the idea of wearing one thing only once sounds ideal who wants that? I want to like a piece so much that I want to wear it again and again which is exactly what this jacket is to me. So if this jacket isn’t your cup of tea then go find that fashion item that you love! What item in your closet do you have on repeat that you’re pairing with every outfit? I would love to hear about it!

How to Style a Small Entryway

falling for fall

To kick off #write31days I’ll be talking about one of my favorite topics: home decor. Though my sister is the interior designer of the family I have quite a love and maybe even a flair for decorating! You should all know by now that I have a love affair with TJ Maxx and Target which, in my opinion, are two of the best affordable spaces to shop home decor besides thrifting/flea market-ing and are easily my go to’s for home decor..and everything else let’s be real. So today I want to share one of the spaces I’ve struggled to decorate in my home and how I used items from two of my fave places!

Oh you don’t have wide open entryways with big windows that let in a whole bunch of natural light, a beautiful grand staircase, and a funky light fixture to boot? Me either.

Since the above images aren’t anything close to my entryway (darn Pinterest again!)¬†I have to make what I have work. Which is a small entryway, we’re talking small folks. You might not even consider it an entryway, it’s more of a landing, but entryway sounds so much nicer!

I’ve taken my small landing and transformed it by adding a few personal touches to make it my own cute little entryway that is a functional landing as well.

First we started by painting the walls…anything is better than off white, especially gray. The gray I used here is Dovetail by Sherwin Williams. Then painted the door mint (Mint to Be by Benjamin Moore), added a few things on the walls like this adorable wall hook from TJ Maxx, some rugs via Target and a bench from you guessed it TJ! There are only two things left that I would like to do: paint the trim white like the rest of the upstairs and to change out the light fixture to a more thrilling piece I’m thinking about this, this and this. What do you think?

Updating a space doesn’t have to take a lot of effort, time or money. Find some key pieces that will really make your space and paint usually always helps. I change out my rugs and wreaths per season but other than that the rest remains.

Though my space may not look like the Pinterest pictures at the top of this post that isn’t what it’s about. Does your space reflect your personality? Is it functional for your needs? Do you feel at home in it? Does it fit your budget? (that last question will always get you ūüėČ ) If your answers are yes to those questions then who cares what anyone else is doing, only care about what you are doing. Don’t be afraid to try new things, or stick to what you’ve always done. Take it from¬†The Nester’s website about her amazing book: The Nesting Place

“For the¬†perfectionist¬†with a stack of art on the floor in the corner waiting to be hung.

For the renter who believes she can’t create beauty where she is.

For the¬†friend¬†who thinks homemaking and creativity isn‚Äôt her ‚Äėthing‚Äô.

For the single girl who values beauty and hospitality.

For the newly married wife with more time than money, the empty nester with more money than time, the mom with littles with neither money nor time.

For¬†anyone¬†waiting on the next house who secretly hopes that it doesn‚Äôt have to be perfect to be beautiful.”

Whoever you are don’t be afraid to redo a space according to who you are and your style.

Until tomorrow…Day 3!

Pineapples for the Win

target outfit

Today I wanted to share a fun little number from Target. I’m obsessed with this little pineapple cardi! I find myself always throwing on my jean jacket over tops in the summer when I’m inside the the A/C is a little too chilly but I’ve been looking for something a little different and this cute little cardi fits the bill! I just love how summery, fun, and flirty it is. I think it works well paired with this cotton maxi (also from Target which they have in a variety of colors) for a casual day of shopping, work or an evening out with the hubby.

Another one of my summer must haves are cute straw fedoras or floppy hats. This one is also from, you guessed it, Target. I not only love this hat, especially poolside but the price is also so great coming in at $12.99.

This shot is just for fun…pineapples make you giggle I guess!

And in case you didn’t see on Instagram…this happened last week. A little ring tattoo for the hubby: facing me it’s a cursive “I” and when I look at it it’s a lower case “g”. I’m pretty much in love with it!
