Fall in the Home

Like most everyone else, I am beyond excited that it’s officially fall! Fall is such a fun time of the year and goes by so fast as we’re typically too focused on the upcoming Christmas season. Now, I’m all about Christmas but I think fall deserves its season!

I kept the fall decor pretty simple in my home this year! You may also notice the little black device in the right corner of the above photo. That’s my new Nest camera from Verizon that they let me take for a test drive. I love how it’s not super bulky and doesn’t stick out from my decor like a sore thumb!

It’s always fun to bring out seasonal decorations each year and remember everything that I have and certain memories that go with each item!

The Everyday Mr. loves when I keep the coffee table decor to a minimum so that it’s not in the way. Which is a good point so I try to keep this in mind whenever I’m decorating! I used one of my favorite items-this reclaimed wood gold and capiz bowl with a few white pumpkins I picked up at Target last year.

And would it really be a change of decor if you don’t change out the pillows and throws? Not for this girl! I love that gather pillow from Target last year but they have so many cute pillows and fall decor this season too! Shop the pieces I’m loving here.

Though sometimes I go big on decorating my tablescape for the seasons its just not as practical. We actually like to use our table and it’s a lot to clear off every evening for dinner!

This isn’t quite fall themed, however, next month (October) is our anniversary month and I wanted to break out our wedding champs glasses! The bar cart wanted a little festivity too.

From this angle you can barely see that Nest! I love how easy the Nest is to set up, all it takes is plugging it in, scanning the QR code with the Nest app on your smartphone and ta-da! That’s it! It will send you an email when it detects a person, and you can also speak through the camera- super perfect if you want to mess with your dog or your husband 🙂

The mantle needed some changing as well. I didn’t make it super fall-ish, yet mixed some more natural elements with metallics for the season!

That’s it for this year’s fall home tour. Like I said, I wanted to keep it simple this year. Fall decor makes me happy, even in small doses! Have you decorated your home for fall yet or do you wait for October to change it up? I can’t wait to share more fall fashion with you in the coming weeks!

EverydayMrs Goings On

Wow, hi guys, it’s been a while! Sorry I’ve been a little MIA lately, we have had a lot going on! In the past couple weeks we’ve had so many changes: the hubs accepted a new job in Omaha, we listed and sold our house and bought a new one in Omaha. It’s crazy how quick this all happened but we are very excited for this next chapter and adventure in our lives. Since we listed our home we had professional photos taken of our home so I wanted to share one last final home tour of our first home together and reflect on some of my past home projects:

Christmas Home Tour

Merry Christmas week! Can you believe there are only 3 days left until Christmas? Seems like the month of December has gone by incredibly fast, actually since Thanksgiving it’s a little of a blur. So today I wanted to share this years EverydayMrs’s Christmas Home Tour!

I’m sure you’ve seen the tutorial for the Christmas tree napkins floating around social media lately so I had to try my hand at them! They were unbelievably easy and added that extra flair my table needed.

As you might have seen on my personal instagram last week was a big one in the EverydayMrs home! We celebrated Isaac finishing his bachelor’s degree. So proud of him for putting himself through college all while getting engaged, married, working a full time job and supporting his wife! I threw a celebratory Christmas themed dinner with some of his favorite things, Christmas tree napkins, and a few presents of course!

Now for the full tour:

Here’s our minty glam goodness of a tree that I love oh so much, might not be your “typical” Christmas tree but I love that even more about it! I changed it up a little bit from last year’s Christmas tree and left the red out, what do you think?

christmas home 4

And the entire living room…this year was all about the mint, gold, and fur! Tree with the fur, with the fur! (anyone, anyone? 🙂

christmas home 5

And for everyday I kept my Christmas tablescape simpler that last year also but added these fun sheepskins from TJ of course!

Love coming home to this sight: our lit up tree with a cozy fire going, only thing needed is a cup of my husband’s famous hot cocoa!

Beautiful Home Tour Pt. 2

Hello, welcome to part two of the beautiful home tour of my lovely parent’s house. If you missed part one you can go here to see it, you definitely don’t want to miss it. Without further ado here is part two!

Let’s start with the before of their home. Here we are going from upstairs down the stairs…

They had cherry wood trim and berber carpet in the basement along with brown walls and a couple red accent walls, very traditional looking!

beautiful home

Lots of cherry wood which made it seem very dark even though they have a walk out basement full of windows!

Here’s the bar area, same tile backsplash as the floor in the bar area and around the fireplace. The barter is corian while behind it is laminate, so strange to me some of the choices the builder made in such a nice home.

And now let’s go down the newly remodeled stairs…

Major difference already, love the trellis design in the carpet and the white walls contrasting with the black trim.

Hello beautiful tile!

I talked my mom into this coffee table from Z Gallerie and she chose not to get the glass top on it which I love the raw yet polished look it adds to the space. We’re still searching for the perfect piece to go on top, for now the little basket will do.

beautiful home

Scroll back up for a minute to the fireplace before…crazy right? The hearth and mantle are gone along with the all the dark wood! Love the tile they chose as well as the awesome fireplace!

beautiful home

Having the built ins painted a light grey really lightened up the space and makes it feel a lot more open and fresh.

beautiful home

Taking the mirror out of the backsplash and doing a thin glass tile all the way up looks so much better and not as dark and drab. Also props to my dad for picking out the amazing new granite countertops. They’re even better in person!

See that beautiful granite?? Seriously my dad did that all on his own!

And here are the two guest baths downstairs, they used the extra slabs from the kitchen countertops for these bathrooms and had the existing vanities painted as well as put in awesome light fixtures, above counter sinks, and new hardware. On a budget? Paint your existing countertops, trim, and change out the hardware for an easy update.

So still in love with my parent’s home? I know I am. Stay tuned for the third and final part of the home tour which includes the beautiful master!
