How to Master Gift Giving

Being it’s my own birthday today, I figured its a perfect time to talk gifts! I consider myself a good, thoughtful gift giver and I want to share with you how to master gift giving once and for all! I completely understand that buying gifts for the ones you love can be overwhelming and stressful. But what if it doesn’t have to be?

Here are a couple tips to get you started when you need to buy a gift whether its for a birthday, Valentine’s day, Christmas or a “just because” gift. “Just Because” gifts can be some of the best kind in my opinion.

When you start thinking about buying a gift it’s overwhelming because you may have procrastinated a bit (don’t worry we’ve all done it), you may not know what they want, or you think they already have everything they want. For the first one-start early! If it’s already past that point think back to things they’ve mentioned over the past couple months. This could be something as simple as a new pair of shoes because you remember them mentioning their current work out shoes need to be replaced.

If you don’t know exactly what they want then make it easy. If it’s for a female most women love massages, pedicures, manicures. I’ve found you usually can’t go wrong with a gift certificate for one of these services. If it’s for a male, they also like massages, maybe they’ve never had one so you need to introduce them to this wonderful joy of life. Another great idea for a holiday like Valentine’s Day is to set up a couples massage. Not only is it something you can both enjoy but you can do it together! Nothing better than a little relaxation with the one you love.

Now for the last reason: you think they already have everything they want. This one can be tough because it forces you to think outside the box. Sometimes this can mean you need to look at events in your area they will like-is it a concert they’ve been dying to go to? A sporting event? Or maybe there’s a nearby wine or food festival you could take them to?

Maybe you need an idea for a bigger celebration- an important birthday, an anniversary, etc. For my husband’s birthday last year I planned a surprise trip to Charleston, South Carolina. We had chatted several times about this being a place he wanted to go to so I decided to book it! If this doesn’t fit your budget it could be a staycation. For our first wedding anniversary we planned a staycation. Staycations are a fun way to celebrate a special occasion as well as try things in your own city that you’ve been wanting to! This could be new restaurants, a fitness class together, the options are endless. Start out by googling upcoming events in your area and plan around those.

I hope these tips I’ve shared will help you master gift giving! Gift giving doesn’t need to stress you out and is a great way to show the one you love that you’ve thought about what to give them more than just a few days before the holiday or event!

Tell me what you think about this post! I promise I'll try my hardest to get back to you!
