4th of July

It’s Friday which if you have off Monday and Tuesday (like I do!) it’s the start of your long, long 4th of July weekend! (insert salsa dancing emoji) I’m popping up on the blog to share a little of how I decorate for the 4th + a little 4th of July outfit inspo!

I know that a lot of people don’t like decorating for “small” holidays such as the 4th of July, Valentine’s day, Easter etc. I kind of find that idea funny as every other holiday, “big” ones included are still just a day!

I enjoy decorating for all holidays, big and small! Though I certainly don’t go all out like I do for Christmas I enjoy having a few, cute, unique pieces for the different holidays or seasons.

A couple things that I’ve always wanted in a home are a front porch and somewhere to hang flag bunting. Well color me tickled this house has a front porch and it’s perfect for flag bunting-it’s even painted blue which is the perfect patriotic color for my flags! I ordered these flags from Amazon Prime of course, you can find them here and get them just in time if you have a prime membership!

I also picked up these little flag printed bows at Walmart for $1 each to put on my small pots. And how can you decorate for a holiday without changing out your wreath?? You can’t I tell ya! I didn’t have a 4th of July themed wreath already and I didn’t want to make/buy a completely new wreath. I found myself in Target (shocker) in the dollar section and saw this cute hanging galvanized aluminum cutout of the United States. Immediately snatched it up before knowing what I was going to do with it! I already had my beloved boxwood wreath hanging on the door and I thought it would be cute paired with my dollar section cutout. And guess what?? I love it together!

I couldn’t be happier with how my few, small patriotic decorations turned out! Definitely goes to show it doesn’t take a lot of money, time, or effort to make a space fun, themed and beautiful!

Now that we have the house looking festive all we need is a patriotic outfit to go with!

You might remember this red off the shoulder top I shared on my instagram a few weeks back from Foi Clothing

I love this top so much and can’t get enough of the off the shoulder trend, so hopefully it doesn’t go out of style any time soon! These shorts are from LOFT last year (shop similar here), the sandals are Sam Edelman (similar here).

Those tassel earrings are Stella & Dot, I also love the black and white tassel ones they have right now as well. What I love about these tassels are they can also convert to a really cute stud as well. I love decorating for any holiday, party what have you and love sharing it with you! Would love to see what you guys are wearing for the 4th and how you’re decorating!

Romper with a Side of Fun

It’s a new day which means a new outfit!! I’ve been feeling a little uninspired lately and needed to shake some things up. I love adding different colors, patterns and textures together and this is just what this outfit does! One of my new favorite boutiques is Hello Ruby-a mobile boutique in Omaha. If you’re local you definitely need to check out their schedule for where they will be popping up next! I picked up this romper from Hello Ruby last week at the College World Series. I love rompers because it takes no thought so when you aren’t inspired to put together an outfit a romper is the perfect go to!

I think so many women (sorry guys I’m not a fan of the male rompers) think rompers aren’t for them but really it’s not much different than shorts paired with a top! I gravitated towards this romper for its neutral yet so on trend colorway and for the uniqueness of the ties on the arms.

Here I wore it with a fun statement necklace (yay fringe!) and my little pom pom sneakers because my mom always told us to wear closed toed shoes while riding our bikes-look mom I listened!

And of course since it’s National Sunglasses Day I threw on a pair of my favorite Quay sunnies.

On a side note apart from the outfit, I received a Kat Von D matte liquid lipstick in my last Sephora play box and I’m loving it! It goes on so smoothly, lasts and doesn’t come off on everything.

I’m also thinking this romper put with a pair of red tassel earrings would make the perfect 4th of July outfit! If you’re local to Omaha and haven’t checked out the Hello Ruby boutique you definitely need to. Check out where they will be next here.

Soft Surroundings: Stripes & Lace

I woke up yesterday thinking it was Wednesday so glad to know it’s actually Wednesday today! Soft Surroundings just opened a location in Omaha recently and the store is beautiful! Before Soft Surroundings came to Omaha I honestly didn’t know much about them. However I had the chance to check them out and today I’m sharing a striped, lace gown that caught my eye!

I’m not sure about you but I’m all for soft things, so a store called Soft Surroundings has my name written all over it. Everything in the store felt amazing. This dress has the perfect spring/summer look and weight for the season. The lining is incredibly, buttery soft and there isn’t a part on it that itches which is super important to me in a dress during the summer!

I also really like the colors in this dress, from the soft yellow to the mint blue and lavender color of the lace they are a perfect color combo!

Thanks to Soft Surroundings for the gorgeous dress and for bringing their beautiful store to Omaha! What a great addition, you should stop in at Village Pointe and check it out if you’re local or look them up online.

This post is sponsored, however, all opinions are 100% mine!

Easy, Summer Fashion

Happy Wednesday! We’re halfway through the week and Omaha is abuzz with College World Series starting this week. It’s my first College World Series and I have to say I’m pretty excited to experience it for the first time! But back to the fashion, I’m sharing a super simple easy breezy summer fashion look.

I know a lot of people aren’t a big fan of online shopping but I definitely am! So many places offer free shipping and free returns so it’s honeslty a no brainer for me. Online shopping is also great for trendy, seasonal pieces that you might not want to invest in from the bigger department stores. Even if it isn’t free shipping as long as its reasonably priced it’s probably still worth it when you take into account your time driving to the store, gas etc. And if it doesn’t fit, just return or exchange it! No harm, no foul 🙂

Speaking of online shopping, I’m sharing an easy summer look today! I love the color blocking of this dress and the weight of it. Though its a 100% cotton it has the look of linen without all the wrinkles. The dress is a little oversized and has a boxier fit so I paired it with this belt from LOFT I’ve had for a couple years to bring in my waistline though I like it without also!

I’ve also shared these earrings a couple times and I’ve worn them so many times that my cost per wear is seriously low by this time! These are from Nickel & Suede, they are the color Minty Fresh in the large size. (p.s. minty fresh are the earring of the month so they are only $18!)

I’ve also been loving the straw bag trend lately but haven’t loved most of the pricing I’ve seen around the web. This was a great buy from Amazon of all places and holds just the essentials! Shop it here.

These shoes are also from Shop Alter Ego and are my new faves. I bought the closed toe booties like these from Free People last fall and wanted the open toed version but without paying that price tag. When I found these I knew I had to have! They fit true to size and come in several colors.

Of course my arm party and necklaces are from Stella & Dot, shop those here. Now I have to figure out what I’m wearing to CWS this weekend! Happy Wednesday friends!
