ORC Reveal, Let’s Eat!

It’s One Room Challenge reveal time! Can’t believe how fast 6 weeks flew by. And best of all it’s completely finished and I’m so happy with the results. Before I show you the finished space let’s reflect on what it was before:

Not bad just quite outdated and the yellow beige-ish wall color just wasn’t doing it for me!

I’m so excited to show you the final reveal of our dining space. I love how it turned out and how it wasn’t a very expensive remodel or refresh of the space.

I love that I was able to incorporate things from our old house with things we purchased specifically for this house. That makes it more of challenge for me. To figure out how to incorporate old with new, inexpensive with higher priced items.

I was contemplating how I wanted to set up the table. Of course it’s fall but I didn’t know if I wanted it to be everyday since this isn’t “fall themed”. I went ahead and decided what the heck, it is fall let’s do it! I did keep it more neutral though because everyday is my mantra here on EverydayMrs.

Here’s that lovely bar cart I showed you more of last week, next to my fiddle leaf fig!

I absolutely love this print from House of Belonging, perfect little detail for our living room and what we want for this space!

These pictures were on the wall going down the stairs in our old house and I think they pop off the wall even more in our new house with the lighter gray walls.

For the final shot, here’s a step back at the whole space where you can see it all together. There isn’t one thing I would change in this room. The paint, lighting, dining room and details made this reveal one of my favorites so far that I’ve done for the One Room Challenge.

Of course, I have to say thank you to Calling it Home for hosting once again. Don’t forget to check out all the other bloggers who are finishing their one room challenge projects as well!

ORC Week 5 It’s all in the details

I can’t believe there’s only one week left of the One Room Challenge! Our dining room is having a couple hiccups that I will share more about next week. Overall it’s coming together nicely. One of the things I posted about before we moved to the #hickoryhouse was that I wanted a bar cart. I ended up not purchasing one off my list but instead purchased this adorable marble and gold one from target. I love all the details of the space already and can’t wait to show you more!

For our dining space I couldn’t choose a very large bart cart so this one fit perfectly in size and in style. I love the detailing of the marble that really adds to my dining room by bringing in a different element. The only difficult thing about it is when it came to styling my cart. Since it’s not very big I didn’t have a lot of options so I just stuck to the essentials.

I needed a set of bar tools that was the right size to all fit together on the cart. I love this one also from Target that I purchased. The stir sticks are Oh Joy from the summer collection and the decanter and tumbler are from Target as well, they are older. I love this hammered copper shaker and this wine decanter if you’re in the market!

The bottom of my bar cart carries my true essentials: moscow mule copper mugs, ice bucket, and a few spirits and mixers!

Obviously the bar cart serves a purpose, hello cocktails! However I love the added detail it’s bringing to our dining room.

I’m a fan of mixing my metals so I love the copper, gold and chrome that pop off the cart!

And those stir sticks are just too darn cute not to show up closer!

So tell me, do you have a bar cart? Or if you did how would you style it? To see all the rest of the bloggers linking up for the One Room Challenge head to Calling it Home! And don’t forget to come back here next week, same time and place, for the finale of the ORC! I will be sharing all the beautiful details in our newly transformed dining room.

Fall Eats with Whole Foods

Happy November 1st ya’ll! Today I have a super yummy recipe brought to you with the perfect ingredients from Whole Foods. For Halloween I love to make a themed dinner either with pumpkin somewhere in the recipe or be orange! One year I made buffalo pulled chicken sandwiches that were super yummy but this year I wanted to do something different and easy. I found a pumpkin chili recipe on Pinterest and tweaked it to make it my own and something we would like!

pumpkin chili 1

I love these pumpkin shaped little crocks from World Market I’ve had for a couple years. I have used them to hold different dips but for some reason have never put a soup in them! They were perfect for my pumpkin chili on Halloween.

How scrumptious does that chili look?

And even better on my “grateful” platter from you guessed it, Target.

slow cooker pumpkin chili

My favorite thing about this recipe was that it could be cooked in a slow cooker. I browned the meat in the morning and put it all together in the slow cooker so it could cook while I was at work and make our house smell fabulous.

cranberry orange cocktail

And what’s a yummy meal without a great drink?! This was my first time purchasing alcohol at Whole Foods as grocery stores in Kansas can’t sell it. It’s so convenient to have it all in one place. This drink doesn’t have a specific recipe, I just mixed cranberry juice, orange liqueur, lime juice and vodka to taste and topped it off with cranberries!
