Grapefruit Cocktails + Book Club

This post is sponsored by Whole Foods but all opinions are 100% mine.

Last night was book club night, which besides books usually means wine or cocktails and last night was no different! I wanted to change it up a little bit from wine so when I saw this spiced grapefruit tonic walking down the Target aisles over the weekend that was my inspiration!

I then headed to Whole Foods to pick up the rest of my goodies for the evening which included these big juicy grapefruits, mint leaves, and limes.

I also picked up a Mojito mixer (my fave) in case all the ladies didn’t love grapefruit! I used malibu with passion fruit rum as my alcohol which added an extra yumminess to the cocktail!

And what is a book club without a couple snacks as well? I picked up some guac from Whole Foods as well as these amazingly yummy fresh baked tortilla chips that were in the ready made section and some fun dill pickles!

It also gave me the chance to use my new gold flutes I got from World Market a couple months back! The grapefruit cocktails were a major hit last night and I will definitely be making glasses pitchers of them again!

Want to make your own Grapefruit Cocktail? Here’s what you’ll need for a glass:

3 parts Spiced Grapefruit Tonic

1 part Alcohol (I used Malibu but you could use any rum or vodka)

1 slice of grapfruit

1 lime wedge

mint leaves if desired

And if you fancy a Mojito:

2 parts Mojito mixer

1 part white rum

1 part club soda

1 lime wedge

mint leaves

Superbowl Snacks

Whole Foods was the happenin’ place to be today, not only is it a Saturday but it is the day before Superbowl Sunday! Deciding what to bring or make for a party can always be a little stressful, so many people to please and so many different options. So as I was going up and down the aisles at Whole Foods I saw the box of 365 Brown Rice Crisps and decided I would make some good ole’ rice krispy treats! After all who doesn’t like rice krispies??

Not only did I think rice krispies were a safe bet for the popularity but they have few ingredients which makes it easier to appeal to multiple peoples diets (and easier for me to make!)

These were my three ingredients (plus butter to melt the marshmallows) all found at Whole Foods.

Once I melted the marshmallows and mixed in the rice crisps I cut them up into not so perfect squares and dunked them into my yummy melted milk chocolate! They are also super delicious to eat while the chocolate is still warm…not that I would know 🙂

And ta-da a super easy, yummy snack that takes minutes to make and under $10!

Samsung Gear S2 Review

This post is sponsored by Verizon, all opinions are 100% mine.

Hello! I’m back with another post with Verizon! I love doing these posts and having the opportunity to try new, fun and techy gadgets that are out there and telling you all about it. These past couple weeks I’ve had the opportunity to review the Samsung Gear S2 watch!

samsung gear s2

It was so much fun to have the opportunity to try out this watch especially with it being the start of a New Year and being prime resolution time! Resolutions are typically hard to stick to so having a device that can help keep you on track definitely helps. The fitness app that comes on the phone is so helpful, it counts your steps, can log your exercise activity as well as how many glasses of water you’ve had and can also read your heart rate.

I love how it looks like it’s Valentine’s themed as well…thanks Samsung for coordinating with the time of the year 🙂

Along with the Gear S2 I got to try out the Galaxy Note5 to pair with the watch. I loved using the Galaxy Note5 in conjuction with the Gear S2, there are so many amazing apps just for the Gear S2 that are free as well as some that you are able to buy but I didn’t feel any need to get any of the paid apps for anything that I needed!

One of my resolutions this year is to be more present and in the moment. We spend a lot of our time on our phones, computers, ipads etc. I was obviously aware of this but even more so when we went on our last vacation out of the country where we didn’t always have wifi, my family and I were so more present with each other and I found myself not automatically reaching for my phone and clicking instagram as often as well as not missing it during the times we didn’t have wifi. While it’s not completely realistic to disconnect 100% of the time and there are a lot of benefits that it brings I love the fact that with the Gear S2 helps me still be and feel connected without having my phone sitting out or in my hand at all times.

Have you jumped on the smart watch train yet? It’s like the new smart phone! It even helps me look a little more sporty and legit at Pure Barre 🙂
