What to Wear: Thanksgiving Edition

Happy Wednesday that feels like Friday loves! As I’ve been preparing for the week’s festivities and travels I wanted to share a couple what to wear for Thanksgiving options! If you’re anything like me you like options, especially if you’re packing to travel for the holidays. I’m not sure what I want to wear tomorrow let alone the next day so I’m always prepared for varying weather and my own moods ūüôā I pulled together 3 looks that are easy to recreate with things you probably already own, how’s that for everyday??

what to wear option 1

Though most people reach for your fave LBD I have to mix it up a little bit so for your classy option one I chose a gingham flare dress, with cute black booties and of course a little statement necklace.

what to wear option 2

I think vests might possibly be one of my love languages whether its fur or puffy I love them all so for option 2 I had to include a vest especially with this winter weather we’re supposed to be getting. Love this olive skirt¬†paired with an easy chambray top and brown suede booties. Add tights if it’s really chilly where you are!

what to wear option 3

And possibly my favorite number 3 a more laid back look with my new favorite sweater! These pants are seriously comfy too and come in several different colors, take my word that you need these in your closet, I also picked up these little black booties at TJ a couple weeks back for a steal and they are now in this season’s constant rotation! You might also remember I got this hat on sale at Anthro on our anniversary vacation.

Thankful Table

Even though we aren’t having a “real” Thanksgiving meal at my house I still had to decorate my table and have my parents over for a yummy meal provided by Whole Foods! I used most of my¬†everyday¬†decor and dinnerware with a few extra things added in!

Have you seen the Sugar paper line at Target?? Beautiful! I picked up this wrapping paper that I used as my runner plus a couple gold sharpies for us to write on the runner what we were all thankful for.

I’m obsessed with glassware for some reason and always love pulling out these gold bottomed glasses for fun occasions!

The name plates were also courtesy of Target-none other than the dollar section!

On the menu:

Fall Brussel Sprouts Salad

BBQ Brisket

French soft bread

Cheesecake & Carrot Cake (already made in the bakery section at Whole Foods) So soooo good!

This post is sponsored by Whole Foods, but all opinions are 100% my own.

Cold Weather Necessities

With the weather dwindling into the lower temperatures I wanted to share a couple of my cold weather necessities that are perfect for fall and especially going into winter!

cold weather necessities

North Face Beanie // Free People Slipper Socks // Ugg Slippers // Pottery Barn Faux Fur Throws // Williams Sonoma Mulling Spices

I’m not a huge fan of the cold weather but I love what this season brings: Thanksgiving, Christmas, family time, entertaining, boots, and cozy things!

My cold weather necessities are my North Face beanie I bought a couple years ago at TJ Maxx similar to the one above and I wear it constantly when the weather gets cold! The next two of my necessities I think everyone needs, raise your hand if you constantly have cold feet for about half the year! I have several pairs of slipper socks that I love to just wear by themselves or for when I’m really cold I put those on and slip my feet into my ugg slippers! I think these from Free People are adorable and they come in a variety of colors and designs.

Now that your head and feet are nice and cozy we can move on to my next two favorite things! My mother in love bought us a fur throw from Pottery Barn two years ago for Christmas and my husband and I loved it so much it was a race to see who would get that blanket when we would watch a movie or tv so she got us another one last year for Christmas. There are similar ones at TJ Maxx and Target that I’ve seen recently since faux fur is such a big trend in home decor but in my opinion they aren’t near as cozy!

Last but certainly not least of my necessities, are another fabulous item that my mother in love introduced me to are Williams Sonoma mulling spices. If you have not tried these before, do yourself a favor and go get some! They make your house smell amazing and make great mulled cider or wine. The minute it starts to get chilly I am itching to put some on the stovetop and let it do it’s magic and make my house smell amazing!

These things make the cold weather not as hard to bear (but I will still take a beach everyday) but there are many things I love about this time of the year that are so special and have a sacred place in my heart! What are your necessities during this season?

Anniversary in the City

I promised you to post more about our anniversary we took so now that it’s been almost a month I figured it was high time! We started out in Boston and ended up in DC and had a blast in both cities. We had both been to DC but hadn’t been to Boston so it was fun for us to experience a new city together and experience a city we had both been to separately before but now got to go to together!

Our first night in Boston at this cute little restaurant and bar at the Charlestown Navy Pier with a great view of downtown Boston!

We spent our days exploring, walking miles upon miles, and learning how to be city slickers by riding the subway!

We tried lobster, Maine lobster, to be exact for the first time. Sorry Larry the lobster…

everydaymrs wine tour

And then my husband surprised me with an amazing anniversary present (as if the trip wasn’t enough) a sparkling wine tour that took us to several different local restaurants in Boston where we were able to try some delicious sparkling wines as well as a few great eats!

We ended at this cute little restaurant that had a private room up this narrow staircase, exactly how I envisioned Boston!

We then headed to DC! We stayed in Georgetown, which we couldn’t have loved more! Such a fun area full of great shopping and eating.

While we didn’t see the Pres, I did get asked to do an interview about the Democratic Debate!

Just hanging out at the Washington Monument with this in the background! You’ll notice hats were my bffs on this trip because 1. they are a great fall fashion accessory 2. they helped with windblown/rained on hair 3. I like them!

On the evening of our actual anniversary…

And on our last day in DC we took a private tour of the capitol which was so fun.

We had a great time on our anniversary trip exploring these fun cities, the great weather made it even more special of a time for us!

If you’re looking to travel to these cities our top EverydayMrs’s (and Mr) approved activities are:

  • City Wine Tour in Boston
  • Take a stroll (or 5) down Newbury street in Boston’s back bay
  • Tour these cities on foot, take advantage of your two feet, you will see so much more! (definitely use the subways and users when needed though!)
  • Take a private tour of the capitol by contacting your local Representative

If you missed my other posts about this trip go here and here.
